Post subject:  Uke #2 is completed!

I just finished up my second Uke. A Tenor from the GLS 12 fret Tenor plan.

African Mahogany Top, back and sides.
Ebony binding, bridge, rosette and headplates.
Pegheds tuning pegs.
My first attempt at a side sound port.

I don't play ukulele so I can't really tell how it plays other than strumming a few chords. It seems pretty loud. I don't know if that's the soundport or just the size, but it's definitely louder than the Bocote Build I finished a few months back. I learned a lot from this one. I used a new neck attachment that David Farmer helped with (thanks again for the pics :)).

Thanks for all the help in the forum!

Edited to add: Clearly I need to mow my grass, but there is too much to do!

Very nice. Is that an open-pore finish or satin? Looks nice

It's just tung oil. I'm sure I'll apply it a couple more times before delivery and smooth it out a bit. I need to learn to French polish. :)

Very nice Brad. Can you share your neck attachment process?

I thought I would check with David first before sharing. He's good with it, so here it is: https://goo.gl/photos/PhEbFhSbHbLQMCCT9

I liked this a lot better than the threaded insert. It feels bomb proof. For the uke I used a single rod as you can imagine, but the idea is the same.

Nice!
I like your style Brad.
I'm certain those Peghead tuners will work better than the many old Uke friction tuners I see.

Here is a link to a video of the uke being played by my sons guitar teacher, who happens to also be a great uke player. :)

Brad,

Nice pictorial. What's the dowel for (perpendicular to the neck) in the heel? I've never built a user before...

Thanks,
Glenn
